It’s the first modern console system that has all the mobile components of a handheld, but also has easy plugin for a television. There have been handhelds that are fully portable and can be plugged into a TV before, but none have been touted to run games that are being developed TODAY. The closest console is the GPD Win, which runs a full Windows 10 environment yet can play top of the line games from a few years ago without issues, and modern games today without shadows.
Sega almost had something similar in the past. The Sega Nomad was a portable Genesis system, similar to the Game Gear but for Genesis games instead of Mega Drive games. But it was released late in the Genesis timeline, so even though it could be hooked up to a TV it was almost dead on arrival. Also it was US region locked.
